Frequently asked questions relative to Reconciliation Bill

Q: Will people who are already retired under 62 continue to get the supplement that they have been getting?

A: Yes, there is no change for current retirees.

Q: Are there any segments of the workforce that would be grandfathered in, like past 62 or who started before 1995, meaning they already have 30 years?

A: If they are still in CSRS (very few) they would not be impacted.  This only affects FERS employees.

Q: What is the expected implementation date?

A: Unclear, we would assume when signed by the President.  The draft from Comer says January 1, 2027, but that is not a final document.

Q: If a person is in the process of retiring, paperwork submitted, will they be affected or exempted?

A: This should not impact them if they started in the current system.

Q: Where can I get a copy of the bill to read in full?

A: The closest we have is on GovTrack.us, the link to the 2025 and 2026 budget bill is not numbered directly but its path is on GovTrack and Congress.gov:  Markup for Oversight and Government Reform hearing April 30, 2025.
