Friday Message – February 12, 2021

We held our first information/training session last night hosted jointly by UPMA and FedPoint.   We were honored to have Patty Traendly, Field Staffing and Design Consultant in Organization Design conduct the training for us on the PS Form 150.    Patty shared a lot of very valuable information and we have another session scheduled for next Thursday, February 18, at 9 PM EST.    We will be recording these sessions and when we are through with the session next week, we will post the recording on our website so you can go online and view it if you are unable to join us in person.   As you, as Postmasters, look at your office and your future, one of the items you need to keep in mind is your Form 150.   It is up to you to look at this form on a regular basis and if you find you are in the zone of tolerance, or better yet, eligible for an immediate upgrade you need to initiate that action, the Postal Service will not do that on your behalf.   So, if you are looking for information, please join us next Thursday evening.  Here is the information to get signed up and to join us for the session:

Title:  How Do I Ensure That the Level of My Post Office is Correct?  “Getting to Know the PS form 150” Date: Thursday, February 18, 2021 Time: 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM – EST Meeting Link: https://ltcpartners.webex.com/ltcpartners/onstage/g.php?MTID=e42bc5394234469173d8221c7a2e3a8e0

This information is also available on our website under “Events” and “Online Training Schedule.”   We plan to offer sessions similar to this one on a monthly basis and I will continue to provide the contact information in these weekly updates.  It will also be available on the website, unitedpma.org.

Over the last week there was a resolution introduced in the House of Representatives calling for the government to prioritize USPS employees when it comes to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.   Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) introduced H.Res 108 which was cosponsored by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI).   I would encourage you to contact your members of the House and encourage them to sign on as cosponsors, as well.    If we get a companion bill in the Senate, I will pass that information along, as well.

The National Articles and Bylaws Committee will be meeting this coming Monday evening to review the proposals that were sent in to amend our UPMA Articles of Incorporation and our UPMA National Bylaws.   The deadline for submission was February 1 and prior to the deadline we had received three (3) proposed changes to the Articles of Incorporation and twenty-five (25) proposed changes to the National Bylaws.   The committee will be meeting to make their recommendations as to whether, or not, they believe the items should be adopted, or rejected by the membership when they vote on them at their Chapter Conventions this year.

As always, I want to thank you for all that you do and for the effort you put forward in trying to keep yourselves and your employees safe and the mail moving during these very challenging times.   Your hard work and the hard work of the people that work with you in your offices does not go unnoticed.

Take care and stay safe,

Dan Heins
UPMA National President
