Free Membership – I just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that the National Executive Board made the decision at their board meeting prior to the National Convention to extend the one-year free membership to EAS employees that join the organization until March 31, 2022.
Chapter Member Representative Academy this weekend – We will be having the first of our Chapter Member Representative Academies this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. I just received a report that shows that Charlotte is requiring the wearing of face masks in all indoor public areas. For those of you attending, please plan accordingly.
Monthly Training Session – Next Thursday, September 16th at 9:00 PM EDT we will have the first of our monthly training/informational sessions for September. This month’s training will be conducted by Natalie Collins who is a Business Coach for several companies. The Nevada Chapter had Natalie speak as part of their convention and it was recommended that we make use of her, so she has agreed to do the sessions this month. Her presentation is entitled, “Organizing all of your Chaos.” Life has a way of pulling us in all kinds of directions, leaving our thoughts scattered and our lives messy. It can be hard to keep track of everything, remember what needs to be remembered, and make sure tasks get done and deadlines get met.
Too bad fairy god mothers don't exist to waive their magic wand and make it all easier. I have good news for you, though. Natalie Marie Collins has discovered a simple way of using a notebook to bring all your thoughts, notes, and tasks together all in one place, plus how to work with and manage everything, so your life can finally become easier and much more organized. She's going to share her step-by-step process with us this month. I hope you can join us.

Legislative Summit – Our preparations are moving ahead for the 2021 UPMA Legislative Summit at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia. As of yesterday morning, we have 218 people that are registered for the Summit. On Monday, September 27th we will have a number of speakers, we have invited Peter Pastre, who is the Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy at USPS Headquarters to come and speak. In addition, we will have both the Chairwoman and the Ranking Member from the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Carolyn Maloney of New York and James Comer of Kentucky that will be there to speak either in general session of to a smaller audience. We will hear from Representative Andy Levin from Michigan and Anthony Brown from Maryland, and we are still looking to finalize at least one other representative to be with us. In addition to the speakers, we will have we will be going over the talking points you can use when addressing issues like Postal Reform and the WEP/GPO legislation that is pending before Congress. In order to better equip our Legislative and PAC chairs to set up the visits while you are here in the DC area (either via ZOOM, or in person whenever possible), we have changed our ZOOM meeting format for Legislative and PAC Chairs for this month. We held one meeting on Wednesday this week (the recording is posted on the UPMA website) and we will have another next Wednesday, September 15th at 8 PM EDT. On Wednesday, the Government Relations Team went over some tricks of the trade when it comes to setting up the meetings with the members of the House of Representatives and the Senators. Next, on the 15th, they plan to be on to answer any questions, or help you over any hurdles you have encountered when it comes to setting up the meetings on September 28th. For those of you attending the Legislative Summit I want you to be aware of the current mask policies related to Washington, DC, and at the hotel in Arlington VA. In DC you are required to wear masks for all indoor events and meetings, at the hotel, they are requesting that everyone wear masks in the public parts of the hotel which will include our meeting rooms.
